Is it ok to have 1 nic configured with 1 listener handling incoming and outgoing email?

                   I'm reading about public and private listeners and i am wondering is there any harm in configuring 1 nic with 1 listener handling incoming and outgoing mail flow.

i confirmed through tac that it is acceptable to have one nic configured with 1 listener to handle all mail.
