Hi all,

we have some problem with using Ironport to sending email.

The configuration seems to be correct infact some mail go out correctly. But for certain domain, the mail doesn't go out and if I check the message tracking I see this:

01 Dec 2010 09:50:36 (GMT +01:00) (DCID 37095) Delivery started for message 46378 to XXXXX@YYYYYY.it, ZZZZZZ@YYYYYYY.it.
01 Dec 2010 09:52:49 (GMT +01:00) (DCID 37095) Message 46378 to XXXXX@YYYYYY.it delayed. Reason: 4.4.0 - Other network problem ('000', ['[Errno 60] Operation timed out']) []
01 Dec 2010 09:52:49 (GMT +01:00) (DCID 37095) Message 46378 to ZZZZZZ@YYYYYYY.it. delayed. Reason: 4.4.0 - Other network problem ('000', ['[Errno 60] Operation timed out']) []
01 Dec 2010 09:52:49 (GMT +01:00) Message 46378 to XXXXX@YYYYYY.it, ZZZZZZ@YYYYYYY.it. pending until Wed Dec 1 10:52:49 2010 as per bounce profile Default.

I don't understand why I receive this error. If I send the email directly through my exchange, the email go out correctly.

Any ideas?

Regards

Danilo

Hi,

We are facing the same problem too.

Best regards,

Hi Alexandar, do you have made some test?

I try to decrease the value of Max. Messages Per Connection and Max. Concurrent Connections From a Single IP but the behaviuor is the same.

My current AsyncOS Version is 7.1.2-020

Regards.

I often see Errno 60 network errors happening with a firewall between the Ironport appliance and the destination mailserver.  Ist this happening on all messages sent to these domains, or only randomly?  Also,  if there is a Cisco PIX firewall inbetween, check if the SMTP fixup protocol is enabled. If yes, please disable it as it might be responsible for these issues.

Regards,

Andreas

Hi,

It is happening on all message sent to these domain. We are using the Watchguard firewall not Cisco PIX instead.

Best regards,

Alex Ling

Hello Alex,

so this is affecting one destination only, so the problem might be on their end. Usually in this cases I'd recomment to create a domain debug log for that destination, which records the detailed SMTP connection while a message is being delivered to a domain.

GUI: System Administration->Log Subscription->Add new Log Subscription   Type: Domain Debug Log

Will show ho far the connection gets, i.e. if it is interrupted in the middle of a transmission, or if only headers are transmitted. The latter would indicate an MTU problem BTW. As this is can be quiet complex you might also want to open a ticket with customer support and provide them these logs.

Hope that helps,

Andreas
