To answer your first question, build 307 fixes a bug that only affects the system setup wizard on M-series appliances.

To answer your second, the Release Notes are your definitive source of what is fixed in a given release. They will not break out the fixes by build number, and may not mention a fixed bug if it is unlikely to have been encountered in the field.

It would really be very helpful if the release notes listed the fixes by build number, and listed all the fixes no matter how insignificant. This way we know how to plan upgrades, and indeed whether or not to bother upgrading at all.

At the moment the IronPort shows available upgrades. But what's in it is a mystery to everybody unless they ask here and someone takes the time to respond.

Please consider this.

Further question - if this change only affects M-series appliances, then why offer the upgrade to C-series appliances at all?

I will pass that feedback along to the documentation team and let you know what I hear. In almost every case where we release a new build we send an announcement to all affected customers. This announcement will include a list of new features and/or bug fixes. In this case, we decided not to announce. Clearly this decision generated some confusion, and we will take it into account for future releases.

Our current practice is that all releases will run on both Management and Email appliances. We would have to have a compelling reason not to make a release available for all appliances.
