I have done a quick search through documentation for ASA (not only 8.0 but up through the most current versions) and I find that the closest that ASA comes to processing GRE is in its support for PPTP protocol (which uses GRE).
So I believe that the answer to your question whether ASA supports GRE is no.

Hi,
ASA is a fundamentally a security appliance. So it doesnt support a lot of general IP routing features like PBR, dual default routes. and wide range of other things. ASA's dont support GRE as you need to create a Tunnel interface in order to run GRE. In fact you cant even create a loopback interface on a ASA.
The simple solution would be to plug a router into the ASA. choose a 2800 or a 1921 or some router like that and creat the GRE tunnel on that and just allow IP protocol 47(GRE) on the firewall to pass through..

Hope this helps
