hello,

does anyone know if peer firmware sharing is as a feature accessible for 69xx devices? i've found an info, that SIP firmware release 9.1(1) includes this feature, but what about sccp firmware? even in cucm 8.6 there is no option under device configuration to enable peer firmware sharing (as it is for 79xx phones).

thank you

regards

milan

i've opened a TAC case regarding this issue and the statement is as follows:

"I did an investigation on this issue and I found that firmware sharing is not supported in the 6921 IP phones, also we do not know if it will be supported in the future.

Kindly  check the below note from the “Cisco Unified IP Phone Firmware Distribution Methods” document which confirms the above info:

“Note: For the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 Series, the Peer Firmware Sharing feature is not applicable to the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7985, IP Conference Stations 7936 and 7937G and the wireless handset portfolio (i.e., 7921G, 7925G).The Cisco Unified IP Phone 6900 Series is also not eligible for the Peer Firmware Sharing as of time of publication of this document. The IP Communications Business Unit is investigating support of Peer Firmware Sharing for the 6900 Series portfolio in a future firmware release.”

I also checked the latest Administration Guide for the 6921, 6941, 6945, and 6961 IP phone and it confirms that this feature is not supported yet for both SIP and SCCP protocol on this IP phone.
