7960G SIP with CME 8.6

Hello,

I spent all my free time in the last three days trying to figure out how to successfully register a 7960G as a SIP phone in CME8.6 running on a 2811.

I already have two CIPC clients happily registered as SCCP phones with no issues whatsoever but the 7960G is testing my patience.

I have already had this phone work perfectly with CUCM10.5 as SIP phone so not sure why its playing hard to get with CME8.6

I have tried both cmterm-7940-7960-8.12.00-sip.cop and cmterm-7940-7960-8.12.00-sip.cop.sgn as the image file but firmware status screen on the phone still shows P0S3-08-6-00.

Also the phone is not registering and shows as unprovisioned.

Status messages are W310 , W362, and W320: first and last are error parsing default and SIPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cnf files while the middle is "No Valid Line Names Provisioned"

debugging shows the following repeatedly:

May  5 11:35:56.750: TFTP: Looking for SIP0015C6A7FCF6.cnf

May  5 11:35:56.754: TFTP: Opened flash:/SIP0015C6A7FCF6.cnf, fd 0, size 1314 for process 398

May  5 11:35:56.766: TFTP: Finished flash:/SIP0015C6A7FCF6.cnf, time 00:00:00 for process 398

the config is as follows:

Now, the SIP files are from Cisco website so I know they work.

Where am I going wrong?

DNS, DHCP, NTP and everything is working since the two CIPC clients work perfectly and show the right time and date.

PS. I am studying for CICD exam

Hi Talal,

can you check whether the phone has an ITL file as you have registered with CUCM 10.X and if yes, then delete it and try.
