I want IP Communicator to be associated with a specific user and to prompt for user ID and password. Currently it seems as if anyone who could guess the device name for my IP Communicator, which is standard for all users, and can guess the ip address of my tftp servers, can highjack anyone in my enterprise's IP Communicator account.
Can it be made to behave more like CUPC or Jabber UC?
How do i secure IP Communicator from anyone spoofing anyone else?

There is no way to do any of what you're asking, you can freely type any device name and the TFTP server if you have access to the properties, there is no way to tie a device name to a user or PC.
You would probably want to play with the Windows permissions to create the "problem" in which you're not able to change the TFTP and so they cannot change it.
EDIT: You can also enable all IPCs for EM only.
