I tried to manually upgrade the phones with the following files:

  • xmldefault.cnf.xml
  • P00503021900.bin

I changed the xmldefault.cnf.xml file to read SEP00e07524511b.cnf.xml which is the MAC address of the 7935 phone I also edit this file to read:

<Default>

</callManager>

</member>

</members>

</callManagerGroup>

<loadInformation9  model="Cisco 7935">P00503021900</loadInformation9>

</Default>

Do you have the following files:

  • OS79XX.txt
  • SIPDefault.cnf

Hello Leo,

First thank you for replying – Any information is good information....No, I don't have these files. I don't know what they are or how to get them....

Go to www.voip-info.org and search about converting to SIP.

How to manually upgrade an old 7935 Polycom phone using TFTPD software and TFTP to download the firmware from Call Manager.

1.) Using Windows 7 TFTP issue these commands to obtain the standard XML file and firmware on the phone

  • U:\>tftp -i <CUCM IP> get xmldefault.cnf.xml
  • U:\>tftp -i <CUCUM IP> get P00503021600.bin               ßThis is the firmware you will be downloading from CUCM

2.) Download and install tftpd64 and place both P00503021600.bin & xmldefault.cnf.xml under C:\Program Files\Tftpd64

3.) Modify the “xmldefault.cnf.xml” file so that the 7935 entry is the only option.

4.) Enable the ALT TFTP option on the phone so that it’s pointing to your IP address

5.) Launch TFTPD to start the upgrade

Upgrade should take a few minutes then the phone will reboot…

6.) Turn off the ALT TFTP option on the phone – This will reboot the phone.

7.) Register the phone with CUCM
