Feature Policy Soft Key Control

This section of the CME Admin guide;

Feature Policy Soft Key Control
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmesoftk.html#wp1033669

Can anyone explain exactly what it means, because it's nonsense!!

  • It says that Feature ID 5, SpeedDial or Abbreviated Dial is disabled by default, and that as of CME 8.5 the display of these soft keys on the 8961 can be controlled using the Feature Policy template. It later refers to the softkey command under voice register template.
  • Are Feature Policy template and 'voice register template' the same thing? There is no other reference to Feature Policy template anywhere else in the CME Admin Guide. If not, what is a Feature Policy template and how is it configured and applied.
  • There is no softkey command under voice register template, there is a softkeys command. Nowhere under voice register template > softkeys is there a SpeedDial or Abbreviated Dial option.
  • What are the Feature IDs and what are they for?

It appears that Featur Policy Controls can be configured in CM - has someone done a copy and paste job from the CM documentation without realising this feature is one of the long list that's been forgotten in CME?

Seriously, what is the point of being able to configure 113 speed-dials on an 8961, a phone with 5 line buttons, if the Abbreviated Dial function cannot be enabled?
