Globalized call routing -- Emergency number dialling -- Doubt

Hi,

I have doubt in globalized call routing for emergency numbers (With LRG in place). In the attached snapshot we are considering 888 as the corporate Emergency number. User who dials there respective emergency number (911 or 112) gets translated (Translation Pattern) to 888 and 888 Route pattern is configured.

Pls see the attached snapshot, am confused a the point of Gateway configs-- Called party transformation which is changing 888 --- 999 at UK Gateway and 888 --- 112 at Europe gateway..

I am confused at the gateway configuration, like where to configure on the gateway for called party transformation which is transforming from 888 to 112 or 999..

Found the guide/snapshot on some training docs...

Pls explain....

Else it can also be done by configuring called party transformation  patterns in a particular partition and the Called Party Transformation CSS which contains that partition applied in the Device Pool associated with the gateway

In this scenario, as you mentioned LRG identifies which gateway shud be used  to route the call. Once that is done, the call hits the corresponding gateway.

We could use the called number for an incoming dial-peer match and in that dial-peer, apply a voice translation profile. This has a voice translation rule to convert the called number to the required number for example 888--> 112 if its an EU gateway. The outbound dial-peer match happens with the translated called number which is 112

Hi Rajan,

So we do create Called Party Transformation Patterns (may be 3 or more), with different partitions and css, that CSS will be applied to Device pool.

Right ??

yes. Create required number of Called Party Transformation patterns and apply the corresponding CSS in the device pool of the required gateways.

Thanks Rajan...

you are welcome Jagadish :)

Hi Jagadish

Be careful with what you design and configure and make sure you read the legal requirements for each country as you cant just use any number you want for emergency services then translate this to the real number. Many countries have strict legal requirements around this, including the UK used in your example,  have a look at this for the UK -

http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/voip/statement/

When it says make 999 and 112 available it means it as it reads you need to be able to dial these 2 numbers not a random number that will be translated to these.

Sorry Jagadish, you are still making your original Emergency Services numbers available, I didn't see your attachment until afterwards.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for the info and guidance, I was just trying to understand how the call flow would be configured/go.
