IP Communicator behaviour

Hi,

Can someone explain the following:

User 1 - Logs in to a PC (PC1) and their softphone. While remaining logged in (to both PC and phone), logs on to another PC (PC2) and logs in to the softphone on the PC2 also. The two phones conflict and the display will flicker between the two.

User 2 - Logs in to a PC (PC1) and their softphone. While remaining logged in (to both PC and phone), logs on to another PC (PC2) and logs in to the softphone on the PC2 also. The phones don't conflict or flicker and you can receive calls on the last phone you logged in to (in this case PC2)

Why does one user behave differently to the other?

Thanks

More than likely the issue with User1 is that the IP Communicator is using the same MAC address (Device Name) on both PCs. If they are both on there will be a conflict.  You will need to open the IP Communicator on both PCs, right-click anywhere on the phone and choose properties, then go to the Network tab to verify this.  If they are both using the same MAC, then that is certainly your issue.

If this is the issue, you will need to configure a separate/unique IP Communicator "Device" in CUCM for each PC, then hard-code the MACs in the IP Communicator on each PC to match.
