Hello,
Just like to know what will be the RAID configuration for Cisco MCS 7845-H1 with four (4) hard drives, is two RAID-1 or one RAID-5?
Thank you.

Hi Sankar,
Is there a way to make it RAID-5 instead of RAID-1?
Thank you.

Ricky,
The RAID controller on DL380 servers do support RAID5. I think the Cisco OS discs configure them to RAID1. RAID5 requires a min of 3 hdd's. Since 7845s have 4 discs you should be able to support RAID5 in plenty. I am not sure if this will be a supported configuration by TAC if you use HP's RAID software to configure RAID5 and then the question arises how to setup the Cisco supplied OS on this without erasing the existing RAID setup. Also RAID 5 read performance is usually poor and probably this is one reason why Cisco doesnt use it.
