Good day,
We just installed a brand new Cisco Business Edition 6000 IP phone system at our office, with mostly 7821 and DX650 models.
One annoying thing is that internal callers won't be notified if the party is already busy (on another line). On our old dinosaur Nortel phones, a "busy" notice was shown on caller's display. On that instance, the caller may choose to hang up and call later (avoiding to disturb the party), or wait if he considers important and to leave at least a message. And for the party, he had the choice to answer this second call (if stated as important) or ignore it.
The busy trigger is set at 2, and don't want to change that.
Any advice or solution to this problem ?
Thanks in advance.

on making outbound calls you would probably not get the 'busy' text displayed on your screen, rather you would hear a busy or reorder tone on reaching the number of call set in the busy trigger on the called party line configuration.
and to get a call back notification you need to configure the 'CAll BACK Feature' which would allow you to receive call-back notification on your Phone when a called party line becomes available.
And the party would always have an option to accept the second call provided the "Maximum number of calls" is to as required on the Line level.
refer below links for more detail on the same.

There's no equivalent on CUCM, best you could do, is to enable presence in the directories to see the status, the other alternative would be BLF.
