Transcoding Resources & Voice Termination with PVDM2-64

We have a number of voice gateways which terminate calls from up to two E1s within a single 2811 chassis. The voice gateway has a single PVDM2-64 DSP.

I understand the DSPs can share the function of voice termination and transcoding (but dedicated DSPs are required for MTP or conferencing). How do I configure the gateway to share the existing DSP resources for transcoding sessions?

With 2 E1's you will be using 60 channels.

(at full capacity) so you wont have too much for Transcoding sessions available with your

PVDM2-64 (64 channels).

Normally for Transcoding it is possibly to support 16 XCODE sessions when XCODING between

2 low-complexity codecs, since this istuation is rare, the practical number of XCDOING sessions per DSP is 8.

You are correct, but for being more clear this means that PVDM2 (C5510 DSP)

can provide both functions simultaneously.

Conferencing is statically defined, and a C5510 DSP that is configured for CONF cannot server any other function.

The best solution to this is to add additional PVDM2 to the GW.

For configuration check this:
