IPv6 with no DHCPv6

Dear Experts,

I have a question about IPv6 deployment. The platform configured to use
stateless autoconfigure in router SVI and client get the IPv6 address via
RA successfully. DHCPv6 server setup and DHCPv6 relay configured in router
SVI for DNS info retrieve by client via DHCPv6. But I would like to know
that there is any method and configuration on router side to let the client
to retrieve the DNS via NDP or RA automatically instead of using DHCPv6?
Because router performance affected after DHCPv6 or DHCPv6 relay enabled.

Thank you very much!
Kawaii

The feature you are searching for is defined in RFC6106 (IPv6 Router Advertisement Options for DNS Configuration). But to my knowledge it's not implemented yet (at least not in IOS).

Correct, no RDNSS for now.

However - could you clarify re. performance degradation ? What do you observe ?

Dear Andrew,

Just have high load in existing routers and do not want to enable the IPv6 dhcp relay on each IPv6 interfaces.

Kawaii,

There are multiple issues with SLAAC (stateless autoconfig) at this moment such as DNS. We have deployed DHCPv6 and working just fine.
