Hi
My provisioning tool just wanted to create a CSF with device name CSFAUTOCREATETEST2. It failed with the following error
The specified name has invalid characters or is not formatted correctly for this device type.Valid characters include [a-zA-Z0-9._-]{1,50}
Now.. I'd argue that my device name fullfills all those requirements. So, to see what is happening here, I went to ccmadmin and tried.. and the GUI cut off my device name to CSFAUTOCREATETE. So it seems the message ought to be
Valid characters include [a-zA-Z0-9._-]{1,15}.
CUCM version is 11.5.1.11900-26

Thinking this is a typo in the error message text, but opening defect CSCvc18899 for someone to take a look/update. Thanks

Hi Stephan,
I'd agree that the error message was incorrect,
but you can find the name formats in the table TypeProduct (devicenameformat)
