Hi,
I appeared in the CCIE Metro EThernet Metro Beta Exam in Oct 2004 infact just before the last date of beta exam expiry.Unfortunately, I could not pass the exam but I do not know how much score I got as Cisco just told me the Pass/Fail result.I appeared in the exam as it was Beta version (just $50) so I was sure if I fail I won't lose much;). At that time I really tried based on my practical experience.I did not have enough or should say the right material and infact it was not available at that time.I studied just for 5 days(did not take it serious as it was a beta exam).I wanted to see the exam pattern infact.
On cisco site also right material was not available.
I would strongly suggest you to read the following:
1-each and every topic listed in the blue print of written exam.
2-there will be 30 percent I remember general knowledge question from R&S track written. So if you read CCNP books that would be fine.
3-Definetly read the CCNP swithing book to cover all the related topic in the blue print.
4-Now the recommended books for this exam are available in market.Read them.Specially read the book.(Seems Cisco consulted this book for setting the written exam.)It is an excellen book and tells you inside out about Metro Ethernet.

Hope this helps and please let me know if you need further assistance.
These I have again started my studies as I became busy in some personal stuff.
Good luck.
