Different CE VLAN than PE AToM

We have layer2 AToM working in our lab:

CE-2941--to--PE-2811--------PE-3825--to--CE-2941

question is:

how does one configure one point-to-point PE layer2 tunnel that does not require the same VLAN tagging for the CE's VLAN, or different CE non-tagged VLAN?

meaning, CE's connecting to PE-ports use simple layer2 VLAN, or routed interface, port configuration and PE's are using their tagged 801.q VLANs

thanks, Kevin

Kevin,

Did I understood your question right that you need to use physical interfcae (without subintf) on CE side and on PE side you need xconnect under subinterface?.

If yes, any specific reason why you need this?. Basically when you need multiple interfaces or to connect multiple subnets, that when we go for subinterface. In otehr wrds, when you have 2 routers back to back connected via 1 physical interface and if you need 3 subnets enabled between these boxes, you can configure subinterfaces. Or if you have one router connected to L2 domain (may be a switch) whcih acts as PE that needs to connect multiple CE devices. you can configure multiple subinterfaces on the interface connected to switch (with switch side as trunk).

Correct me if my understanding on the question is wrong.

Nagendra
