LDP Router-ID on ASR1002

Hi all,

I have an ASR1002 running 'asr1000rp1-adventerprisek9.03.11.01.S.154-1.S1-std.b'.

In regards to LDP, everything I have read is that the router determines the LDP router-id based on the loopback interface with the highest IP address.

In this scenario, I have 3 loopback addresses:

Loopback0 - 10.40.1.1/32

Loopback2 - 10.50.1.1/32

Loopback100 - 10.10.10.10/32

What I have found is that the LDP router-id is always set to the lowest Loopback#. For example, in this scenario, Loopback0 10.40.1.1 was the router-id. If I shutdown the Loopback0 interface, the LDP router-id would change to Loopback2 10.50.1.1. After 'no shutdown' on Loopback0, the LDP router-id would change back to Loopback0 10.40.1.1. It seems the IP addressing has no affect on which interface is chosen to be the LDP router-id.

Is this normal behaviour? I can't find any documentation stating that the LDP router-id is determined based on the lowest Loopback#.

Thanks,

Steve

The universal formula for all protocols is lowest IP address from all usable/up loopback interfaces.

If there are no loopbacks then lowest IP address from all usable/up interfaces.
