Quick MPLS PE Question...

We have a MPLS circuit that is down. Supplier says that it's our equipment, we want to be sure though. Should we be able to ping our PE router from the host end if the MPLS circuit is good and it's really a remote end CSU problem?

Thanks

Hi,

the connectivity from your site to the PE is pure IP (assuming MPLS L3VPN scenario). So you should be able to ping and traceroute the PE (assuming no filters are preventing this).

If you do not have IP connectivity to the PE then perform normal IP troubleshooting - check access-lines, IP routing in your site and so on.

In case you have connectivity to the respective PE in all your sites, but not across the MPLS VPN then contact your provider - this would indicate MPLS VPN is broken and he should fix it.

Hope this helps
