Send community both

Hello Folks,

I have some doubts in BGP Basics, Please clarify it.

In IOS XR Is the command send-community-ebgp is the replacement for send-community both,

and for send-extended-community-ebgp for send community extended?

I also have another doubt in IOS is the command send-community both or extended, will it be configured for EBGP neighbours or is it also required for a iBGP neighbours?

in the same way for IOS XR are the above commands are only for EBGP neighbours or it is alsorequired for iBGP neighbours.

I need this comparision of both IOS and IOS XR.

Thanks in advance...

Regards
Thanveer

Hi Thanveer,

send-community-ebgp is equivalent to send-community

send-extended-community-ebgp is equivalent to send-community extended

send-community-ebgp and send-extended-community-ebgp are equivalent to send-community both

In IOS, communities (standard and extended) are never sent unless send-community is configured.

in IOS-XR, communities (standard and extended) are sent by default on iBGP sessions but not on eBGP sessions.

Hi Harod,

"in IOS-XR, communities (standard and extended) are sent by default on iBGP sessions but not on eBGP sessions"

Do the above behavior on ios-XR takes place for all address family or varies from one address family to another one.

will establish MP-EBGP on IOS-XR with advertising both communities so should i use send community commands.

Hi @mohameedsabry4 ,

The behavior should be the same for all address families.
