I have question about classic traceroute and mpls traceroute. Why mpls traceroute cannot resolve the destination hostname ? As I understood, mpls traceroute was to detect failure in the data plane in an MPLS network. So the packets are only routed based on the label stack (using the LFIB) and never using the FIB which prevents the case we saw with “classicTraceroute” before where the packets where routed using the FIB (based on IP) although there was a break in the LSP. Also the destination IP of 127/8 prevents the LSR in the LSP to forward the MPLS echo packet further downstream.
The mpls traceroute won't resolve the destination hostname because mpls traceroute based on the label stack right? Could you please explain me for this question?
