we are installing acs v. 2.6 and we would like to know if it's possible to assign ip addresses from the dhcp server when we use tacacs.

Sure, this might help. http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/dhcp_access.shtml

thanks a lot bob. the site did provide some of the info i needed. but i'm still looking for a way to use an external dhcp server instead of the cisco ios dhcp server. you see, my "external" dhcp server (NT based) is on the same machine as the tacacs server. and when a remote node tries to access the server, the dhcp won't assign an ip address. i can let the tacacs server assign an ip address via the server pool but not the "external" dhcp server. what do you think is the problem?

Oh I see what you are saying, I dont think so but you should check with the TAC on that to be sure. Anyone else doing something like this?

I'm having the same problem with our wireless network, I'd like the users to be assigned addresses straight from the ACS itself, but I haven't had much luck.
