Hello,
I have issues with the SNMP daemon on Cisco Secure ACS 5.3 (patch level 5) stopping, is there a quick way to restart the SNMP daemon via the command line?

Robert,
I understand where you are coming from, I have encountered the following bug:
CSCte39351 | The SNMP agent process in ACS appliance daemon stops. |
and restarting the box will cause it to come back up and after about 3 days it would stop. I just want to see if this is the same bug that might be back in patch 5. The best thing to do at this point is to schedule a quick down and reboot the box to see if the snmp process starts up again. If it does then give it a week to see if the snmp goes down. If it does then reference this bug and open a new tac case to get it fixed. If not then you should be in the clear.
thanks,

No you will have to reboot the appliance, you can try restarting the services but I am sure that will not restart the snmp process. I worked on this bug before and did this happen right after you installed patch 5?
Thanks,

Hello Tarik,
Thanks for the quick reply, if I am honest I only started using SNMP on patch level 5 and noticed this issue on more than one occasion.
SNMP is critical to us for identifying when the processes are down and I have this working perfectly now on NNM (via a script polling the snmp table) to send traps when they a process is down. Without the daemon being active I lose the visibility and reloading the box frequently isn't an option when I go live is there likely to be another bug fix?

Hello,
We are hitting same or very similar bug with SNMP daemon with 5.3 patch 2. ACS is in HP NNMi 9.10 and after few days it stops responding on NNMi polls. Number of days is random (no pattern or same number of days between failures).
Quick fix without restarting server is to remove all snmp-server commands and than add it again (through CLI). At the moment this procedure is working for us.
Hope it will work for you too until Cisco fixes this annoying issue with SNMP daemon.
Regards,
