If eap-peap does it really require a certificate from internal ca (domain is test .local)
as long as am unchecking the validate server certificate ?

This can't be answered for all devices/operating systems, on some operating systems/versions it will work as it's up to the supplicant how it handles certificate validation, some operating systems won't work at all when the server has a self-signed certificate, some will even have problems with particular certificates even if they are trusted public certs.
