We currently have 2 ACS servers runing version 4.2.  These are non-Cisco servers.  How do I go about moving/rebuilding this on new and non-Cisco hardware?

Hi,

Here is the backup configuration guide for ACS 4.2, keep in mind that the new hardware will need the same version and patch installed before restoring the backup:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/user/guide/SCBasic.html#wp222466

Since this is ACS for windows make sure you follow the guide on what components are backed up and that you run ACS on the supported operating system, here is a good place to look for backups "c:\Program Files\CiscoSecure ACS v4.2\CSAuth\System Backups"

Here is the guide that you can follow on how to perform the system restore -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/user/guide/SCBasic.html#wp330795

Here is the logs that will help determine if the backup was successful or if the restore was successfull -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/user/guide/LgsRpts.html#wp620615

Hi there,

The ACS 4.2 comes in two flavors:

1. ACS appliance 1112, 1113 and 1120

2. ACS software running in Windows server

If you are not using the Cisco appliance and want to use a Server then you need to make sure that you are following the proper requirements, below you can find the proper hardware and software requirements:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_server_for_windows/4.2/installation/guide/windows/install.html#wp1041324

Let me know if it helps.
