Is live migration feature of Hyper-V supported for ISE 2.7 ?

Hello,

does somebody know if live migration of ISE VM running on Hyper-V is supported in Version 2.7?

In the installation guide (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/2-7/InstallGuide27/b_ise_InstallationGuide27/b_ise_InstallationGuide27_chapter_01.html#hypervrequirements) there is no information concerning this.

The vmware section in the same document contains a hint that using vmware hot vmotion is not supported.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,

Thorsten

Hi @thorsten.steffen

please take a look at Release Note for ISE 2.7, search for Support Virtual Environments check the Caution note

"...Using VMware snapshots to back up ISE data results in stopping Cisco ISE services. A reboot is required to bring up the ISE node...

please take a look at a more up to date documentISE Installation Guide 2.7 , search for VMware Virtual Machine Requirements check the Caution note

"... Cisco ISE VM does not support Hot vMotion..."

"... If the Snapshot feature is enabled on the VM, it might corrupt the VM configuration. If this issue occurs, you might have to reimage the VM and disable VM snapshot..."

Hope this helps !!!

Hi,
already read this discussion before but because it's three years ago I hope today there is any further development and new information about that ;-)

There has been no change/update to the previous advice. If the live migration feature performs a quiesce of the disk, it will very likely cause an issue that will result in the application server crashing.

Hi Greg,

what exactly does "application server crashing" mean, is it "just" related to ise application or the complete vm?

Does restarting application server via cli solve the problem, or do we have to restart the complete vm?
