ISE 2.6 & VMWare NIC Configuration

Hi All,

I've searched and searched and can't seem to find a topic / document that helps me with the issue i have.

I've ISE 2.6 running on VMWare vSphere 6.7.0

Twice now, the mac address for the interfaces (whether they be configured as VMXNET or E1000 (twice i've built the machine using both interface types)) have changed. What i can't seem to be able to do, is to alter the mac address associated to the interface on the ISE OS.

I can alter the VM interfaces all i like in vSphere, but what ever i do, the OS shows the "old" mac address'.

Has anyone had this before? Am i able to change it, somehow? (this machine has 4 interfaces, and all 4 have changed, including MGMT)

I'm a little loathed at present to destroy the VM and build it again, and restore a backup.

Any help would be gratefully received.

The 2d part to my question is,

how do i stop the interfaces changing within vSphere so the os interfaces stay persistent?

You can hardcode any valid MAC Addresses within VMware.

You can indeed, but i can't seem to find a way of doing once the interface / vm setup has been completed.

In my scenario, the interfaces were added and only the type was altered between the two different set ups. However, on both occasions when this has happened, you can't seem to go back and edit the mac address in vSphere, the mac address is greyed out.

Why is vSphere changing the MAC addresses? This is the first time I've heard this - I am getting worried about this. I have certainly never run into it.
