ISE 2.6 compatible version with DNA-C...

My customer is asking about the compatible, stable and recommended deployment versions of ISE with DNA-C side.

Customer has the following current releases;

  • ISE software = 2.6                                           (Currently in production)
  • DNA-C Software = 1.2.8                                (New Installation and not in production yet)

As per the ISE-2.6 Documentation: it says Cisco ISE is validated with Cisco Digital Network Architecture Center (DNA Center), Release 1.1.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/2-6/compatibility/b_ise_sdt_26.html

but on the DNA documentation:  DNA 1.2.8 is compatible with ISE version 2.4 patch 2 and patch 5.

Here is the link to the matrix of supported versions:  https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/enterprise-networks/software-defined-access/compatibility-matrix.html

Please advise...

What could make this simpler is to avoid 2.6 for production or pilot unless you have a specific need of it. The recommended release only recently became 2.4.

There are some neat additions to 2.6 for the future, but most deployments don't require right right now.

The compatibility guides always trail behind because it takes time to test, certify, and update everything. ISE 2.6 has only been out for less than a month, it's relatively unproven, docs will eventually get updated. That said, it should work.

Damien is correct ,

It will work but 2.6 still needs some time before considered the golden image.

The golden image currently is 2.4p5
