Hi,
A customer have an ise 3.1 deployment with some captive portals enabled. We see different license consumption from different places.
In ISE we get a big ammount of licenses consumption, >1000 essential licenses.
In Smart Account we get only 156.
In Current active sessions report we get arround 500 active sessions.
The customer have 500 essential licenses and ISE says that there is not any day out of compliance. I don't know how to estimate the need or not to get more licenses, and the customer is asking a response on this different data. I'm not able to find any glue on this gap of the number of licenses in use.
I understand that there can be more licenses consumed than active sessions for many reasons, but how to interpret the huge difference with Smart Account?
Does anyone know how to interpret this? Should I open a TAC question?
Thanks

Are you getting any emails or alerts out of compliance - if not you should ok as per i know.
below guide explain some of the concerns you have in the consumptions :
But still give a proof to your customer and peace of mind - Open a TAC and provide the evidence to customer - so he will be happy since the answer come from Cisco. (this always useful)

Thanks Balaji,
No there is not any day out of compliance, all is about to understand the differences between counters, and whichone follow as a reference to grow in licenses.
I'll open a TAC question in few days if there is not a clear response here.
Thanks again

I saw similar inconsistencies a few times on different customers builds, some times I saw the licenses on the smart portal showing doubled.
I would try to deregister ISE smart licenses from within ISE licensing page, remove ISE instances from within the smart account portal in the product instances page, and finally re-register the smart licenses from within ISE. If this shouldn't help I would raise it with TAC.
Regarding how many licenses a customer would need, it would depend on their environment, how many users, and what features they would need to use, it is kinda an estimation rather than having a clear cut number of licenses.
