License conversion from 2.7 from 3.1

Hi,

We have a hybrid deployment with version 2.7 with base license and 5 small VM licenses.

We are planning to upgrade to 3.1.

What is the recommended option for license conversion?

Should it be before or after the version upgrade?

We are having smart licensing, so I believe the conversion is done from there or it requires TAC support?

After the migration is completed, you can upgrade your ISE deployment to ISE 3.x version.

Open a TAC case, they will do this quickly - usually in less than a day after case open in my experience.

They will need to convert your VM Small licenses to VM Common type and your permanent Base licenses to term Essentials licenses.
