Migrate ISE 1.2 on 33xx to 2.0.1 on 35xx

Hi,

What is the procedure to migrate a deployment of 33xx appliances with ISE 1.2 to 35xx appliances with 2.0.1 ?

33xx does not support 2.x and 35xx does not support ISE lower than 2.0.1.

So normal upgrade is not possible.

Can this work: upgrade 33xx to 1.3. Backup config. Install 2.0.1 on 35xx. Restore the 1.3 config ?

Thanks

This is a multi step process as you cannot upgrade directly from 1.2 to 2.x

Recommend moving to 1.4 plus latest patch, backup config, install 2.0.1 on 35xx and then restore 1.4 config

Another path I like (if you don't need to maintain logs or config) would be to stand up a 2.0.1 in parallel, validate and test and then migrate WLANs, switches, etc

This way you have a parallel system going with everything new working and don't need to go through the pain of the upgrades.
