Hi,

do not know if this can help you, but what about to install vmware ACS 5.1 as a secondary instance to hardware version and then promote vmware ACS 5.1 to primary instance. There could be license problem of course.

Yours sincerely,

ZR

Hi ZR,

So I can to install vmware ACS 5.1 as secondary instance to hardware version. but I"ll have incompatibility problem ? or just only license problem.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Carlos Fonseca.

Hi Carlos,

In order you can replicate your configuration from primary ACS 5.1 (hardware version) to secondary ACS 5.1 (vmware version), you need two different base line licenses (with different license ID). So, if you do not have two different base line licenses, you have got a problem. If you have CCO account you can try to download evaluation license from here https://tools.cisco.com/SWIFT/Licensing/PrivateRegistrationServlet?DemoKeys=Y just for the replication purpose (I am not quite sure whether evaluation license allow this). So, if you want to move configuration from vmware ACS, do the following:

Let us assume that your 1121 ACS has hostname HWACS and your vmware ACS has hostname VMACS. I also assume that HWACS is already installed.

1, Install ACS 5.1 on the vmware server (you have to use ESX 3.5 or 4.0 - ESXi is not supported by Cisco).

2, Install the same patch level as you have on the HWACS.

3, Install license file (with different license ID than on HWACS)

4, In web administration interface of VMACS (System Administration->Local Operations->Deployment Operations) insert information about your HWACS (IP address, admin username, password) and click register to primary.

5, Now your VMACS should have the same configuration as HWACS

6, Promote VMACS to primary server (System Administration->Local Operations->Deployment operations->Promote to primary)

7, Consider also whether you want VMACS to be the LogCollector (System Administration->Configuration->Log configuration->Log collector->select log collector server as VMACS and click Set log collector.

Please, if you can try to simulate this in lab.

By the way, restoring ACS backup created on 1121 ACS 5.2 version to vmware ACS 5.2 version worked for me without any problem.

Yours sincerely,

ZR

Hi ZR,

The problem solved.

The problem was in the backup via tftp, the file transfer was in error. After to make the backup via FTP, it worked the restore !

Thank for your time,

Best Regards,

Carlos Fonseca.
