Switch from certificate authentication to other authentication method ?

We are having problems with our Cisco Router 831 all the time. If the router works, the Microsoft certificate authority does, and vice versa.

I am tired of the constant troubleshooting I have to do and I want to get rid of the certificate authentication.

Configuration : Router also used for regular internet access from within the company. No DHCP,DNS or domain available inside the company, just a regular simple network.

Can we dial in from outside using any other means than certificates ? And if yes, how ?? Is easy vpn an option ?

As far as my knowledge goes, there is no other way to dial in from outside using any other means than certificate.
