Upgrading a password algorithm?

Hello I am in the midst of a security audit and one of my issues is the password hashing algorithm on a switch is type 4. 

I am on IOS 15 so I was wondering if there was a way to increase the algorithm in place?

What I am asking is can I upgrade the algorithm while still using the same password?
