Hi,
While we are assessing Telemetry as a replacement to SNMP based state monitoring of the network elements, I'm trying to figure out if Telemetry can also be used to discover network elements? Does Telemetry have the functionality to also send element information eg. system name, contact, uptime, address etc. (equivalent to MIB-II) once in a while (12/24 hrs)?
Or the recommendation is to continue to use SNMP for network discovery and Telemetry for state monitoring alone?
An insight or pointer to this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Deepak

I am not sure Telemetry replace with your total requirement of SNMP,

Thanks Balaji.
Should the same mechanism of subscribing for sensor paths and then listening for the telemetry messages (MDT) should be used for network elements discovery as well?
I am still not clear if Telemetry was indeed designed keeping network element discovery, as well, in mind. Given that network elements discovery/re-discovery runs less frequently (e.g. once/twice in a day), is it really appropriate to use telemetry to get the device information? Isn't it against the whole idea of Telemetry in the first place... to get data more frequently?
Thanks.
