I've resently had to upgrade from isr4400-universalk9.03.16.07b.S.155-3.S7b-ext.SPA.bin (router) and c3560e-universalk9-mz.152-4.E6.bin (etherswitch) to isr4400-universalk9.16.09.04.SPA.bin(router) and c3560e-universalk9-mz.152-4.E9.bin. Doing so I also had to upgrade my router ROMMON using isr4400-rommon.162-1r.pkg.
1) I upgraded my ROMMON all indications showed that the upgrade was good.
2) I upgraded my Router IOS all indications showed my upgrade was good.
3) I upgraded my Etherswitch, (enable/disabled it from maintenance mode) then reloaded the etherswitch. Upgrade took about 45 min. I had to console (not SSH) into the module (hw-module session 1/0). The routed interfaces where not up on the switch Gi17&18. So I finally power cycled the router. Everything came back online.
My question is why would I have to power cycle the router for everything to come back online? Should I have power cycled the router during ROMMON? Or waiting till after all modules were upgrade was that best?
