ASA 5550 with Built in 4GE SSM card

I've recently purchased an ASA 5550 and checked the boot process to make sure it starts up ok.

The follwing message then appears:

Total SSMs found: 1
SSM-4GE, SN JAF1221AMQE, HW ver 1.0, FW ver 1.0(0)8
WARNING: Incompatible SSM-4GE module (Cisco 4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Module) detected. This configuration is not supported.

I have checked the Cisco website and it states that there is no support as these Modules cannot be removed because they are mandatory in this device.

I've checked one of the ports to ensure it works and sure enough it does. So why the error message if these modules are standard in this unit?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Dave

The only reasons I could think is either the SSM is slightly defective and not giving the ASA the correct ID when power on self test occurs or else it was a non-approved unit inserted despite Cisco's best efforts to prevent the end user from doing that.
