ASDM not loading properly

I cannot get ASDM to come up.  I get to the Screen that tells me that it will start in another window, and the bar goes across to 100% and it says "Please wait...main window is coming up.."  But it doesn't come up. It just sits there.  I've tried in on a windows 7 64 bit machine.. and on a  virtual 32 bit XP machine and it does the same thing... my ASDM version is 5.0(8) and my ASA Version is 7.0(8) so those are compatible.  Any suggestions??

As a Java application, an old ASDM won't work well with a new(ish) Java. Per the ASDM 5.0(8) release notes, it requires Java versions 1.4(2), 5 or 6.

I'd unistall JAva completely on your 32-bit XP VM and then install a "fresh" archive version.
