Automatic Archive with RME

For our network (26 devices) we use CiscoWorks as management tool.

For backup reasons we would like to use the Automatic Archive features of RME.

Each day an archive should taken place of the Running Configuration.

But when we look in the Section Configuration Management > Archive by Device and we select a device.

The overview shows a Most Recent Archive of September.!?

The startup config is the most recent one, but also the running config is dated September..

Can someone explain how this is possible?

And how to solve this?

We would like to have an archive of the running-config each day.

Please advise. Marty

Marty,

If there are no changes to the Running Configuration, then RME will not download a new configuration.

It'll still continue to check everyday based on your scheduled settings but it's not going to waste hard disk space with the same config file multiple times

So if the Startup is newer than the Running, has anyone changed the startup or uploaded another startup config manually?

The best test is to do a simple change like adding a description or adding an extra SNMP community string

or snmp location to the configuration and see if

RME pulls down the latest changes

Startup maybe more recent due to someone copying the running to the startup manually

Please verify if the Startup config is different than the running

Hope this helps
