Hi All, for a limited timeframe we need to migrate Prime Infrastructure from a Gen2 Appliance to a VM based Deployment. Question is, what Deployment Size fits? For sure, we are safe with PI Professional. Deployment, but the Server must be payed and the Customer wants only pay for what he needs.

- It depends on estimated numbers of devices , clients , ....:

Thank you. From my understanding it is only possible to Backup / Restore to an Engine with identical or better Deployment Size. So the Question is, which Deployment Size is a PI Gen2 Appliance; can i use Standard Deployment for the virtual Machine?

- The deployment size is a Prime property during installation , it does not depend on Gen2. You can always try if Backup - Restore works on the intended deployment size , but indeed I think the 'format' of the new Prime host can not be lower then the one used for the backup ,

Prime is also EOL, so might be worth actually having the conversation of migrating to Catalyst Centre which has a VM option as well

Thank you. We are absolutely aware of PI EoL and the DNAC with all its enhancements. But, we need to keep the PI Instance alive for the Migration Timeframe. Regards, Mike
