I am struggling with one last piece of subnetting that I can't quite make sense of.
Given an IP address and a subnet mask (i.e. 172.25.0.0 255.255.252.0) how many valid subnets and
usuable hosts can I get?
Thanks.....Neal Huhn

Hi Neal,
The subnet 172.25.0.0/30 have 2 usable host and one network IP.
Network address: 172.25.0.0
Usable hosts: 172.25.0.1-172.25.0.2
Broadcast address: 172.25.0.3
There are many calculators nowadays over the internet for subnetting purposes.
Eg:

Hope it helps

Thanks Randy. I am studying for a CCENT exam so I don't think I will be using any
internet calculators the day of the test. ;-)

Hi Neal,
You can check the topics covered on the CCENT on the official blue print,

I think the passing grade varies between 800 and 850 points.

One more quick question. I have been looking all over for some kind of an idea of what the CCENT
will be covering...more importantly what it will be emphasizing on. Can you provide any insight into
it without divulging any info that would get you in hot water? Also, is the passing grade an 800 or
an 840?
Thanks.......Neal
