A failure like that is in the ASIC (integrated circuit) and is not a field(user)-replaceable item. It typically requires a replacement switch.
If you have Smartnet support the TAC will generally ship you a replacement switch and issue a Return Material Authorization (RMA) for the old one based on that sort of error.
