Cisco 6500 and Netflow

Hi,

I am thinking about configuring a netflow system under my network, and I have some questions about configuring a Cisco 6500.

Can I just configure the switch part with netflow, (not the router part) ? Because if the only problem is that it will miss the first packet in the flows accounting, I won't matter, and the configuration will be really easier !

Another question : is the netflow caching managed by hardware or by software ? And so does netflow impact the CPU load ?

thanks,

Rémi

NetFlow collects statistics globally from traffic that flows through the switch and stores the statistics in the NetFlow table. In PFC3B or PFC3BXL mode with Release 12.2(18)SXE and later releases, you can configure NDE to collect statistics for both routed and bridged traffic. In PFC3A mode or with releases earlier than Release 12.2(18)SXE, NDE collects statistics only for routed traffic.

1.Two NetFlow options reduce the volume of statistics collected:

2.Sampled NetFlow, which reduces the number of statistics collected

3.NetFlow aggregation, which merges collected statistics
