Hello, this is going to sound really ignorant, so please bear with me. I work for a residential/commercial building in Jacksonville, FL. The building is new, but when the infrastructure was being added, a salesman came for the IT portion of the business. Long story short, the building owner was sold on tens of thousands of dollars of IT equipment that he never needed. A Cisco/Hyperflex datacenter (I think that's what it is) was put in the building over a year ago. I started working here a couple of months ago and I just about enough IT to know if my PC works or not, but they have Meraki running everything here.
During a switch from one network provider to another, a company came out to perform this task and the guys working for the company just casually asked what we were doing with that system. Of course, I don't know anything, so they proceeded to tell me that unless we were going to host World Of Warcraft, it was severe overkill. Then they checked out our entire infrastructure and found out it's never even been used. The trial license expired like 2 months after the install and no one even renewed the license because it literally was never used.
Fast forward to today, we have shut it down, rolled it out of the room, placed it in area where it's just sitting there, all 100k of whatever it is. So, does anyone know where it could be sold? Obviously the owner isn't going to make his investment back, however, it's a worthless paperweight as it sits. Just looking for options to help him out. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.
