i have a 800 Series ISR router with a Catalyst 3500XL switch i am trying to create a sub interface on the router, i have tried google/CCNA qualified IT support is helping me but i have come to a dead end as to what i am doing wrong
I set the port on the switch to trunk (which does experience errors for a reason)
I have entered into configure terminal then interface fast ethernet

encapsulation command isn't recognised
it does however allow dot1q tunneling but
Router(config-if)#dot1q tunneling ethertype 0x88a8 or 0x9100 doesn't show in the running config or any of the possible show commands
what am i doing wrong?
