Currently the best upgrade path is to stay with the LMS product and move up to LMS 4.2 (with patches bringing it up to 4.2.3).

The PI 1.2 product SKUs include licenses for both PI 1.2 and LMS 4.2, If your current LMS 4.1 installation currently has SAS (Software Application Support) contract coverage, this is a no-cost upgrade.

Please refer to the PI 1.2 Ordering and Licensing Guide for complete details.

Hi

there is an important Question, that is not beeing answered in the Ordering Guide.

Same Example: Existing LMS 4.1 Customer wants to upgrade to PI1.2

In LMS they currently have a 1500 devices License.

So as explained in Ordering Guide the correct option would be:

L-PI12-1.5K-M

LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Minor Upgrade 1,500 Device

But: Does this part number also contain Lifecycle Licenses for 1500 devices used in PI1.2 ??

If not, this upgrade path makes no sense for people migrating from LMS to PI...

Thanks

Yes, the upgrade includes the 1500 device Lifecycle license for PI 1.2 (as well as an LMS 4.2 1500 device license). It does not include Compliance or Assurance licenses.

I just verified this myself using the Cisco Commerce Workspace (tool used by partners and resellers to create Cisco orders).

If the customer chooses to run both products (LMS and PI), the intent of the licensing is that the sum should not exceed the 1500 managed devices. However this is not enforced via the products' licensing daemons having awareness of one another. It is on the "honor system".

perfect, thanks for your prompt answer!

You're welcome. Glad it helps.
