Hi,

We are using Cisco LMS 4.0.1

In  the 'Fault Monitor' I found one device as unresponsive (there was some activity happened on that device).

After more than 24 hours of this activity, though the device is reachable/accessible, still LMS showing this device as 'unresponsive' with 'critical' status.

Please confirm if I need to manually clear this critical event or is there any time duration so that LMS can automatically clears this ?

Sometimes one sees an unresponsive on devices with multiple IPs when one of them becomes unreachable. In that case, unmanaging the IP or interface may be indicated. Otherwise, I would generally note the unresponsive as something requiring an operator to check the device and, if all looks OK, then go ahead and clear the event in DFM.

If you want to be extra thorough, you may annotate the clearing and track such actions for evidence of a trend that may be an indicator of an underlying problem.

Thanks for the information.

If we do not clear the critical event manually , how long the critical event will stay in the DFM ? Is there any fixed time, after that the event will automatically been cleared ? Or will it stay till we clear it manually ?

I believe it stays until cleared by an operator. Once cleared, it will remain in the view for 20 minutes. Reference here.

If investigation of the event reveals the problem to be ongoing, "acknowledge" and potentially "annotate" would be more appropriate actions.

Thanks a lot again.
