Can anyone tell me if there is or will there be a package to support the 6509 switch in Cisco Network Assistant?

Cat6K already have a similar thing called CiscoView Device Manager: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2706/prod_bulletin09186a00802078aa.html

I believe device manager requires CiscoWorks to run, correct? If not, how do you download the software? When I go to the link you posted and click the download link on that page, there is no option for the 6509 or device manager software.

No, the Network Assistant does not support the Catalyst 6500 series in this release.
