Cisco Prime SMS Text Alerts via GSM Modem

Hi Everyone,

We currently use Solarwinds for all our monitoring and alerting but have the chance now to look at other solutions. We are looking at 500+ devices being monitored and we have solarwinds configured to send a text message for certain alerts. This is done via a GSM modem connected to the back of the server so if there is a serious network outage we can still recieive the messages as it dones't require access to the internet to use a email to sms type service.

Does anybody know if Prime is capable of doing the same job?

Hi Mark,

Not directly through the appliance or VM.

You may have to have some sort of an agent device to prime do what you do at the moment,Perhaps a syslog server or Device that could do an API call

Do you think it maybe possible if we were to install Prime on a physical server rather than use and appliance or VM?

I'm just not sure I'll get the answers I need from our Partner hence why I'm asking here hoping somebody had done it before.

no idea,You won't have any support even if it works and you'll be risking it with every single update and change.not worth it ..
